Advice on IT qualifications - 2007/09/16 01:17 Hello chaps, a quick question regarding IT qualifications.

I don't work in IT, I'm just keen on computers, so perhaps someone can answer this.

My sister was working as an administrator for a large UK company. She moved to the IT department, and under the direction of her boss, has started taking on some much more technical stuff. She has now got a taste for IT (something no-one expected) and is looking to make a career out of it.

She is a non-graduate, and is wondering which IT qualification(s) will stand her in the best stead for getting a decent job? Is the MCSE the best place to start? What else would a prospective employer be looking for? Are there any decent courses available in the Cambridge area, or will she need to go to London?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Re:Advice on IT qualifications - 2007/09/16 10:37 A lot of people say and I agree with them, the best cert to start out with will be the Comptia A+ Certification, then the N+ then progress on to the MCSE.

Re:Advice on IT qualifications - 2007/09/17 19:16 I agree, it is important to gain a good grounding before moving onto the MCSE, you should check out the syllabus with her, she may already know it.
