Mac Mini as Home Cinema? - 2008/10/04 18:34
Fantastic show guys! I have just discovered you on itunes and started with the Mac show as I thinking about shortly making the "switch". Can I say how refreshing it is to have a decent length podcast so hats off to both of you as I think it is excellent, informative and very funny.
I have downloaded many of the ITidiots shows too especially the mac orientated ones as I am not the most technical person in the world. I have had an iphone for some time now and I am extremely passionate about it as its amazing. This has really got me into Apple and I am very keen (after watching your mac mini as a home cinema posdcast) about buying a mac mini. I have looked on the elgato website and it looks like you can get a pretty nice setup (minus TV) for under £500 (mac mini, freeview, cables etc.) which is fantastic.
I wanted to show my appreciation for the show so registered to write this but out of interest, I would love to hear from any other mac mini users out there about how they have found using it as a home cinema and any tips they can give to someone who is looking to purchase one in the next couple of weeks. For example should I spec it up or is the standard £399 mac mini quite capable of running the setup Nick and Nicky demonstrated in the mac mini podcast?
