MDT application deployment error - 2008/09/07 05:48 Hi Nicky

I've recently watched your BDD 2007 podcast and have set up MDT 2008 (the latest version of BDD as you know) on a server and have been successfully deploying Windows XP. My problem is when I go to deploy applications I get a error message saying "Application Adobe Reader 9.0 returned an unexpected return code: 2". This happens with any application I try to deploy. I have the correct silent switches as I can go to the command prompt straight after I get the error message and install the app silently with no problems.

Have you come across this problem before?

Re:MDT application deployment error - 2008/09/09 11:50 Hi Andre,

I have had something similar, I think with a VPN client, the installation appeared to work well and no errors were logged to the application log. However the setup routine returned an exit code of 1 which MDT interprets as a error. Everything worked well, but it just looked a little messy if you know what I mean.

Anyway, the problem turned out to be a missing file in the installation source. Haven't had this one with Adobe Reader, I have just followed the command lines and tips given at appdeploy.com and all went well.

Is there an installation log, or does the Winodws app or system log say anything?

Cheers,

Nicky

Re:MDT application deployment error - 2008/09/10 20:44 Thanks for the reply. As it turns out there was a problem with the command line (yes, I know I said that I had checked it already). Here's me looking for a complex resolution to what turned out to be a simple problem.

Cheers
