AppleMac Memory Upgrade - 2008/03/19 12:17 Hey!

I'm new to the AppleMac scene and have just purchased the new 2.4 Ghz MacBook with 2Gb of RAM. And was wondering what your views were on spending the £64 to upgrade it to 4GB RAM.

Cheers

Re:AppleMac Memory Upgrade - 2008/03/21 23:32 Hey

I use my machine for almost everything, from my e-mails to the occasional photo editing. I occasionally find my mac slow if I have multiple applications running and was wondering if more memory would help this.

Re:AppleMac Memory Upgrade - 2008/07/03 18:39 Dear Jonathan0104,

Personally, my philosophy is that you can't have enough RAM. If you can afford it then get it, you can always sell the unused RAM on eBay.

The way I think about the price of memory is this: You will have your MacBook for at least 3 years, if not longer. So, £64 over 3 years is £21 and pence, not bad little investment I think?

If you are using Adobe PhotoShop CS2 or CS3, you may want to reduce the amount of memory the application uses. This is in the Application Preferences > Performance. There you can reduce the amount of RAM PhotoShop uses therefore freeing it up for other applications.

Hope this helps?

Re:AppleMac Memory Upgrade - 2008/07/05 18:54 I would ALWAYS try and max out the memory in any system, you can never have enough!

I've just upgraded my macbookpro to 4gig and it goes even faster !!
VM machines are running much fater due to the increase of memory I can give em !
