Multi-Machine Virtualization - 2008/08/27 23:14 I have 3 boxes running VMWare Server currently, and I would like to know what the best ways to be able to allow VMs running on these three boxes to communicate with each other across hosts.

The hosts are joined to an Active Directory domain, but it is a different domain than the VMs will be under, and I want to keep them separate.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re:Multi-Machine Virtualization - 2008/08/28 02:20 Hi,

If each one has its network set to be bridged, and they have been assigned IPs (either manually or via DHCP), and the two boxes are networked together (or on the same network), then you should be able to connect to any of the machines from any other of the machines. What domain they are part of shouldn't matter unless you are trying to do more than just 'connect'.

Hope this helps

Re:Multi-Machine Virtualization - 2008/08/29 14:49 Usually in my home environment I set up a host only network for all the VMs, and then setup one of them with 2003 RRAS (good practice for the MCSE exams)that can connect to my default home network (bridged). then I restrict the traffic to only web traffic, but the same principle could apply for domain traffic.
