ITidiots open forum > iPhone 4 free bumper

Well Nicky was right, they didn't recall the phone. And Su-Fay is also right. Everyone still brought into them despite knowing the issues. They are wants known as mindless sheep ;) excluding Nicky, he's just an Apple Lover ;)

Anyway

http://www.zdnet.co.uk/blogs/communication-breakdown-10000030/apple-offers-all-iphone-4-users-free-cases-to-solve-antenna-issue-10018031/

What happens to people like Nicky who've already shelled out £30 pound on the same type of product? Apple clearly had to give them away for free, otherwise you know someone in the US would throw a class action lawsuit at them.

And as suspected, the iOS update didn't fix the issue.

Hah! Lol, but if I had an iPhone, I don't want a huge case on it making it chunky.

You guys must just be too young to have an objective view.

In 1986 I bought my first "mobile" phone it had a carry case with something like a car battery in it that lasted a couple of hours on a full charge. It had a coily lead connected to the LED display handset and cost just less than two grand. The network choice was either vodafone or hutchinson, calls cost cost 60P a minute to make or receive, if you could find a network to connect to. I don't remember people bitching about it because you were a coolest kid on the block for just owning one.

So my iPhone 4 drops a couple of bars if I cover one part of it, oh boo hoo. Lets get real just the fact that the device in my pocket can do what it does is truly unbelievable and next week I get a free case anyway.
People go on about Apples pricing of their stuff and how expensive it is. To put his in some kind of perspective I paid the current cost of a macbook pro for a seagate 2.1Gb drive in 1992.

It's clear that th update didn't fix the issue, it is more of a psychological fix for the user. Either way i have npt dropped a call on this thing due to issues, and i make no effort to hold in an unnatural way. I would hardly describe the bumper as a huge case, it has a much more important function for me and that is to keep the glass out of contact with the surfaces you lace it.

According to Apple, those who bought bumpers wll get a refund. Happy to hear they aree working on the proximity sensor update, that HAS caused me to drop calls.

Hmm, i could go for the refund of course but I am extremely happy with the device, not for everybody but as the song says "if you don't want an iPhone 4, don't buy one.

Yep, I don't want an iPhone 4 so I won't buy one.

I'm just put off by Apple's ethics...

Sounded a bit arrogant if you ask me in this vid. They knew about the aerial issue for months, one of their engineers kept warning them about it. Then their customer service lines were told NOT to offer a free bumper case.

That's why people don't like you or Apple Mr Jobs.

But shit, you really should just take time out and enjoy your life as you really don't look well anymore. I may hate Apple, but I don't wish you dead.

I'm looking at the HTC Desire as a replacement for the iTouch I have. Hate the iTouch but the HTC Desire looks good, is Android, looks like its touch interface is as good as the iTouch and best of all, its not Apple.

Is it Android 2 though?
July 18, 2010 | Registered CommenterJamie
I'm going to have to get that... it really looks good.

I agree, the best thing about it is that it is not apple.

Battery life is apparently as poor as the Apple so maybe getting this instead

Samsung Galaxy

as seen a comment the battery life was good.

I still think I will get the Motorola Milestone. I've had three motorolas (v220, V3 RAZR, KRZR K1- which I have now) all of them have had excellent battery life and my K1 can last a week on a single charge and average use. My Dad's work Nokia only lasts two days (that is a fairly simple one, just the basics like text and calls).

>It's clear that th update didn't fix the issue, it is more of a psychological fix for the user.

I spoke to a 3G engineer who believes its a case of consumer mass hysteria all the latest gen mobiles have this issue, grip any of the latest phones and your signal will drop, i am beginning to see his point i have seen the very same issue in android phones. Coupled with the fact that some networks dont respond well with combined data and voice (some do not even allow it) and the likes of AT & T which is crippled then you get a load of false positives blaming the phone and not the network or tech.

Hence a load of FUD appears on the net, i haven't seen people put half as much energy in slagging of the droid which also drops calls in the same way.

I totally agree with Nicky apple is handing out these as a psychological fix, although they may help a little.

As for the bar fix well , that bug has been there since the first iphone

Even if the Android OS drops calls and the phone has the same signal problem, I still want a Droid because of the fact that it is open and it is not locked down by Apple. In other words, I could install the Grooveshark "app" on my android phone like any other application, but on an iPhone, I would have to jailbreak it etc...

check you carrier first! i know andrioid on verizon in the US cant have simultaneous voice and data the network is CDMA and doesnt allow it.

July 22, 2010 | Registered CommenterJamie
don't know never used Tesco for mobiles to be honest i probably wouldn't every look at buying a mobile from Tesco.I am not one for buying all my stuff from under one roof.
July 22, 2010 | Registered CommenterSupernova
No, I only got the sim from Tesco (I'm with Tesco mobile).

I will get the phone online or something like that sim free.
