Technical Q&A > .NET Framework - Critical Problem!!!
Can we have the exact errors please?

Hey Jamie,
Are you a programmer? Just curious.
Greg Fyn
I needed a compiler for some code I found and I tweaked the code a bit, it didn't work so I gave up. I am mainly a web developer (as a hobby).
The exact errors vary, for example with Paint.NET:
Paint.NET has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Debug Close Program.
The classic Windows Vista error. I could try looking in event viewer...

Oh yer, I kind of forgot about that post...
Well, I tried going to the following:
Control Panel > System & Maintainance > View Event Logs
and I get the lovely little message telling me Vista is rubbish and I need to either restore the whole thing completely or do a clean install of Windows 7...
(just in case some one doesn't understand, I got the same message as above for Paint.NET but instead of Paint.NET I get Microsoft Management Console).
EDIT: I have tried Start > Run > "mmc" and I tried to add the Event Viewer snap in to it and the same message appeared.
Also, I am getting the Motorola Milestone (as it is known in the UK, elsewhere DROID)

Now, I know most of you have heard me bark on before about my .NET framework problems.
I have tried re-installing, repairing and even using Microsoft's .NET framework removal/cleanup tool to try and fix it, but basically anything that uses .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or pretty much anything that uses/requires the .NET Framework will not work, I just get the standard Windows Vista "xyz has stopped working, windows checking for solution" before any other errors appear.
I know exactly what caused it: Visual Basic Express 2008 & Visual C# 2008, Visual C++ 2008 ect...
I need help now!! Do I have to re-install Visual Express? Do I have to do a factory reset to Vista? Should I go out and buy Windows 7 and do a clean install? Money is no object in this...
